Delhi is the capital of India and along with that a very important historical site in the world. There are some of the popular places and minars declared as world heritage and among them Qutub Minar is very prominent. This is one of the tallest towers in India and also one of the most prominent tourist attractions. Qutabuddin Aibak started the foundation of this tower. It took nearly 80 years to complete this massive tower. It was completed during the time of Firoz Shah Tughluq. This tower used to be the mascot of Islamic rule in India.

The narest airport is the Indira Gandhi International airport. The New Delhi railway station is also nearby. Trains from various Indian cities come here. From there one can easily hire the cab services.

Iron Pillar: to show honor to the hindu god Vishnu the Iron Pillar near the Qutub Minar was built. This 4th century pillar has withstood the test of time and still standing there without any rust on it. This has become one of the tourist attractions in Delhi.


Tomb of Iltutmish: Inside the Qutub Minar complex the mausoleum of Iltutmish is another place to visit. Iltutmish was Qutubuddin’s son in law and he had huge contribution in the construction of this monument.

Red Fort: This red sandstone mansion is one of the main attractions of Delhi. To see the mughal creation and architecture this is the place one must visit. This was built by Shah Jahan and the light and sound show is something that you must not miss. That is an incredible show.

India Gate: It was built in the memory of the Indian soldiers. This is near to the Qutub Minar and definitely a must visit place for the tourists. Especially at night this place looks beautiful. It has become one of the main landmarks in Delhi.


There are various other places to visit around Qutub Minar and Delhi. Any trip to Delhi is incomplete without the local food. Near Red Fort and Qutub Minar one can take a walk own the narrow streets of Chandi Chawk. There one can see plenty of small lanes. There you can taste the best food in Delhi.
