The city of Satara is situated in the district of Satara, in Maharashtra. The place is famous for the Kandi Pedhes. The area being the most significant historical area of the state was under the rule of the Rashtrakutas in the ancient times. Then it was under the rule of the Mauryas and the Satvahanas. Then it also experienced the reign of the Marathas and was an important part of India’s struggle for Independence.
