Bondamunda is located near of Rourkela Steel Plant and it is an important rail station of South Eastern Railway under Chakradharour division. In fact Bondamunda connects some well known and important cities or stations in various directions like Ranchi, Hatia on the north, Jharsaguda on the south Chakradharpur in the east and Bimlagarh in the west. Bondamunda is the asia’s 2nd largest railway yard. It was constructed to facilitate the loading and unloading of goods of Rourkela Steel Plant. With the introduction of block rake concept in Indian railways, these yards lost their importance. Bondamunda station is also connected with other parts of the district.
