There is no general industrial standard for the layout and also for the PNR content. For each and every CRS or hosting system there are having their own proprietary standards. Although there the common industrial need to include the need to map data easily for the AIRIMP. They sort in the similar data contents and format between all the major systems.
When the passengers book an itinerary, the user creates a PNR in the computer reservation system which is typically one of the large Global Distribution Systems such as Sabre, Worldspan, and Galileo. If the booking is done directly with the JetKonnect the PNR can be in the database of the airline’s CRS.
This PNR is known as the associated itinerary for the passenger. These PNR are identified in some particular record locator. When the portions of the travel are not provided in the holder then the copies of the PNR information are sent to the CRSs of JetKonnect. There CRSs open the copies of the original PNR in their database that manages the portion the portion of the itinerary for which they are responsible. Most the airlines like JetKonnect have their CRS hosted by one of the GDSes which helps in sharing of the PNR.
These record locators are copied and communicated back to the CRS that owns the master PNR, so all the records are tied up together. This results in exchange of update of the PNR when the status of the trip changes in any of the CRSes.
