1. Your website name should be small. I know most of popular names are already taken & it is really tough to find small names. But still I will suggest to go for the smaller name i.e smallest you can find!
2. Keyword in your domain is a good indication to Search engines and also help you getting good traffic. But it is not necessary. As most of big brands don’t use keywords in their domain names eg – ebay.com
3. Go for .com domains they are most important and easy to do SEO. If .com is not available go for local TLDs ie for UK - .co.uk and for India - .in/.co.in . If both are not available better try to change you domain name that may help you. (BTW in my views .Net domains are also good if planned and handled correctly) .
4. Say NO to hyphen (-) in your domain name. They are difficult to write and remember. Particularly if you are planning for BRAND names, hyphens are strict NO. In some cases you may try one hyphen in your domain but you should do this only when no other options are available. More than one hyphen in domain name name is spam. Don’t waste your money and time!
5. Several new domain extensions are being released regularly. Don’t rush to book any domain extension until it is not really required!
